Welcome to the website of Burton Latimer Heritage Society
Thanks to a grant from The Heritage Lottery Fund, a project was launched in 2005 with the aim of training volunteers to produce pages on this site to cover the complete history of Burton Latimer, with features on all aspects of its history from the Domesday Book in 1086 up to the present day.
Click on one of the navigation bars on this page for the latest news, topics being researched, and where more help and information is needed. Click the relevant links or pictures in the feature gallery above to investigate that part of Burton's history.

Explanation of the symbols used on the site
This symbol at the top right-hand corner of each page will return you to the page you just came from. Many pages on the site are cross-referenced from different sections, so in following links you may switch between sections. This symbol link gives you an easy way to return to where you were without going through the main navigation system. It is also a simple 'back' button, saving you the need to scroll to the bottom of the page for the navigation links. |
This symbol at the top left-hand corner of each page gives you access to an on-line Glossary of Terms. Many of the pages use the Imperial units which preceded decimalisation and metrication: shillings, ounces, pounds, hundredweights, acres, roods, poles, etc. The Glossary gives an explanation of these and other terms less familiar to site visitors. We have done our best with the coverage, but it isn't encyclopaedic! |
