This is a wide-ranging and exciting project. To complete something of this scope within about 14 months (October 2005 - December 2006) will require a lot of time and commitment. The computer re-creation of the High Street is being done by a commercial company; most of the rest will be done by a group of local volunteers. Would you like to be one of them?

We already have about two dozen people who have promised to be involved, but we could do with more. We need people who would be interested in:

• Researching Topics
• Interviewing People
• Collating Information
• Writing and Transcribing Articles and Stories for the site
• Scanning and Preparing Images for the web pages
• Producing the pages and linking them to make up completed sections

All we need from you is your time, your interest, and a willingness to learn new skills if you need to. Trainers and colleagues are there to support you. You can work solo on small topics, if you prefer to do so - larger topics will probably have to be done by a team working in a co-ordinated way.

You don't have to commit to participating in the project for 14 months. We can make good use of a morning, an afternoon or an evening for about eight weeks, if that is all you can manage. Just tell us what sort of times you could spare and over what period, and we'll do our best to work with that. Depending on when people are available, it is envisaged that we would be doing actual production work in a morning, an afternoon and an evening a week, with other sessions to suit numbers and availability. Research work can of course go on at any time to suit volunteers.
