John Meads 2014
War Memorial Dedication
"Loving Tokens"

When Burton Latimer's new war memorial was dedicated on Sunday November 12th 1922 its base was hidden by hundreds of wreaths and bunches of flowers laid there by grieving relatives and friends. The Evening Telegraph reported the event and published a list of the names from cards on on the wreaths, or "Loving Tokens" as it described them, which it published a few days later. It has been necessary to summarise the messages on the wreaths but all the names are here and, after researching censuses and other records, those that were not named have been included in [brackets] as educated guesses Some cards had more than one name on them, these have an asterisk* against them. As usual, we would be pleased to hear from anyone with further information or corrections.
