William Henry Lovett, from Battersea, was a bus driver before WW1 and afterwards became a mechanical engineer. He started his transport business in 1923 but it passed to his step-son Frank Smith in 1929. Nothing is known about the nature of the transaction. He had married Frank's widowed mother Alice in 1922. In 1939, just before WW2, he was an 'aircraft detail fitter' living at 22 Finedon Street. He died in 1943.
