The Community Centre is situated on King George V recreation ground off  Pioneer Avenue.  It provides a full calendar of activities and events for all the family with a licensed hall available for hire catering for up to 200 people.  There is a pleasant members’ lounge for those who just want to enjoy a quiet drink, open every evening and weekend.

The Recreation Ground covers five acres and was bought as a field by the local authority in 1936. A grant was received from the King George's Field Foundation for it to be developed and on the gates can be seen the Fooundation's plaque. A further four acres of land adjacent to the housing estate was acquired and added to the original ground. The Recreation Ground provides grass areas for football, ball games, etc together with hard tennis courts, a children's play area and BMX bike track facilities.

It was once a popular venue for cricket.
