WILL OF EDMUND PELL 
     21st May 1729

In the Name of God Amen. I Edmund Pell of Burton Lattimer in ye County of Northampton, Yeoman being sick in body but of sound memory and understanding, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, (that is to say).

  First and principally I commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God, hoping through ye Merits Death and Passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins, and to inherit everlasting Life, and my body I commit to the Earth, to be decently buried at ye discetion of my Executor hereafter named; and as to making ye disposition of all such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as followeth

  First I will that my Debts and Funeral Charge shall be paid and discharged.

  Then I give to my son Edmund Pell all ye half yard land which I purchased of Sir Robert Cleaton lying and being in ye fields of Burton Lattimer with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging, to enter upon ye same at ye Expiration of twelve month after my decease he discharging ye morgage there upon I give the same to him and his Heirs for Ever.

  Item I give to my son John Pell ye little house and close with ye appurtenances thereunto belonging now in ye possession of Moses Arch, to him and his Heirs for Ever. But if in case my Executor herein after mentioned do not let him Enter upon ye same twelve months after my decease in ye liew thereof I give him Forty Pounds to be paid twelve months after my decease by my Executor herein after mentioned.

  Item I give to daughter Elizabeth Corbett ye sum of Five Shillings.

  Item I give to my grandson William Corbett the sum of Five Pounds to be paid to him by my Executor when he shall attain ye age of one and twenty years.

  Item I give to my granddaughter Elizabeth Corbett ye sum of Five Pounds to paid by my Executor when she shall attain ye age of one and twenty years

  Item I give unto my loving wife Elizabeth Pell the sum of two pound a year to be payd by two half yearly payments by my Executor in case they do not agree to live together during her natural life and also my will is that she shall have half of my household goods to be equally divided between my Executor and She.

  All ye rest of my Personal Estate, Goods and Chattels whatsoever I do give unto my son William Pell whom I make full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament. And I do hereby revoke disannul and make void all former Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made. In Witness whereof, I the said Edmund Pell to this my last Will and Testament have Interchangeably set my Hand and Seal this one and twentieth day of May in year of our Lord 1729.
